01 — What it is
What is BIAB?
BIAB — Builder in a Bottle — is a soak-off gel builder brushed directly onto the natural nail. It cures under an LED lamp, sets rock-solid, and adds a protective layer that strengthens the nail as it grows out. It isn't an extension system: we work with your own nail length, and you can add colour, French, or nail art on top.
02 — Why we love it
BIAB vs gel vs acrylic
- Stronger than gel polish. Regular gel is a top-coat; BIAB is a structural layer. Weak, bendy or peeling nails hold up far better.
- Gentler than acrylic. Acrylic is hard and rigid; BIAB has a small amount of flex, so it moves with your nail instead of snapping it.
- Soak-off, not file-off. Removal is done with acetone wraps, which protects the natural nail plate over time.
- Grow-out friendly. An infill at week three keeps your set looking freshly done for months, without a full rebuild.

What to expect at your appointment
Allow around 75 minutes for a first BIAB set with colour. We prep the nail with a gentle cuticle tidy and light buff, apply a bonder, then paint on BIAB in thin self-levelling layers, curing between each. Colour, French or art goes on top, finished with a high-shine top coat and cuticle oil.
04 — Aftercare
BIAB aftercare
- 01. Apply cuticle oil at least once a day — twice is better. It keeps the seal flexible and prevents lifting at the edges.
- 02. Wear gloves for washing up, cleaning, gardening, and dyeing your hair. Hot water and harsh chemicals are the fastest way to shorten wear.
- 03. Never use your nails as tools. Opening tins, scratching stickers, peeling labels — that small chip becomes a full lift by the next morning.
- 04. If a nail lifts, don't pick or peel — it takes a layer of your natural nail with it. Book in and we'll patch it.
- 05. Book an infill at three weeks. Leaving it longer risks lifting at the cuticle line and a heavier removal at the next appointment.
- 06. Never file or clip BIAB at home. Come in for a proper soak-off — it takes 15 minutes and keeps your natural nail intact.
05 — Common questions
Frequently asked
How long does BIAB last?
Three to four weeks of wear is typical. We recommend infills at week three to keep the set looking freshly done.
Will it damage my nails?
No — done correctly, BIAB protects the nail. Damage almost always comes from picking at home or aggressive filing during removal, both of which we avoid.
Can I have BIAB on very short nails?
Yes. BIAB is ideal for growing short or bitten nails out — the extra structure stops the free edge splitting before it can grow.
